Another web page on Christian martyrdom? Yes and no.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Today’s Martyrs web site does not aspire to duplicate the fine work done by others, as documented on the Links<\/a> page. The focus of this site is on the individual Christian, for the simple reason that each individual, Christian or not, truly matters to God. Stories of persecution with no names are generally not reported here<\/em>, which means that only about 1 to 2 percent of real cases are listed – a very sobering number. This site has several aims:<\/p>\n

1. <\/strong> Blog postings<\/strong><\/a> which give timely and comprehensive dissemination of current events involving identified Christians in an abbreviated form<\/p>\n

2. <\/strong> Individual biographies <\/strong><\/a>which have been written with the intent of placing the events in these people’s lives into the broader context of Christian redemption as well as within the great movements around us in the contemporary world<\/p>\n

3. <\/strong> A chronology of events<\/strong><\/a> since 1912 which is available for education, inspiration, and scholarship, including statistical analysis<\/a> and a brief timeline<\/a> of earlier persecutions<\/p>\n

4. Encouragement for readers to join together in community<\/a><\/strong> to pray and act on behalf of the persecuted<\/p>\n

5. Directed meditations<\/a><\/strong> and informed prayer<\/a> for spiritual needs<\/p>\n

6. <\/strong> Email subscriptions<\/strong><\/a> (a future function) and archives<\/a> of past emails<\/p>\n

7. <\/strong> Links<\/strong><\/a> to other organizations<\/a> and to recommended books<\/a> and movies<\/a>, scholarly reports<\/a>, and historical documents<\/a><\/p>\n

These accounts with the eyes of faith become accounts of courage, fidelity, and even reflections of the glory of God. Please consider your response to the goals and needs expressed on these pages.<\/p>\n
